Jammu Kashmir Hydel Projects

NHPC plans 45 MW Nimoo-Bazgo hydro electric project at Leh in Jammu

National Hydroelectric Power Corporation is setting up the 45 MW hydro electric project at Alchi-Bazgo village in Nimoo plateau in Leh district of Jammu(434 kms from Srinagar, capital of the state)The hydro electric project will consist of 3 x 15 MW turbine will harness river Indus in Leh district. The project involves construction of 57 meter high concrete gravity dam and 3 penstock of 3.3 meter dia and will use vertical shaft Francis turbine with 91% efficiency. The project is expected to be commissioned by August 2010

NHPC plans 44 MW Chutak hydel project at Jammu

National Hydroelectric Power Corp is planning to set up the 44 MW Chutak hydro electric project at Minji village in Kargil district of Jammu.(224 kms away from the state capital Srinagar). The hydro electri project will consists of 4 x 11 MW turbines will harness river Suru. The barrage of the project will be at Sarze village and the power house will be at Chutak. The project is expected to be commissioned by Feb 2011.

Kishanganga project awarded to HCC


HCC, which holds 98% in joint-venture with Halcrow group of UK has bagged the contract for Kishanganga hydro-electric project from National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC). The project involves construction of concrete faced rock-filled dam of 37 meter high, a head race tunnel of 25.8 km and a underground powerhouse in Kishanganga river in Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir. The total worth of contract is about Rs.27264.9 million.
