Karnataka Power Corp is planning to set up a 600 MW Kali Pumped Storage Scheme. The project is proposed across Bare Halla stream which is a tributary to Kali river joining Kali river on the down stream of Kodasalli Dam. After flowing through a distance of around 8 km, the stream drops almost vertically through a height of around 400 m, known as Vajra falls, in a very short distance and joins Kadra reservoir on the down stream of the existing Kodasalli dam. A weir of height 18.0 m across Bare halla stream is proposed at a location just before the falls and its storage capacity to be around 21.0 M cum. The project is very much in planning stage and is yet to get statutory clearances.
