National Hydro Power Corporation(NHPC) in joint-venture with Orissa Hydro Power Corp (OHPC) is planning to develop 3 hydel projects namely, Sindhol-1, Sindhol-2 and Sindhol-3. Of this Sindhol-1 will have a capacity of 90 MW and will be built across river Mahanadi in Deogaon in Sambalpur district. Sindhol-2 will be built at Kapasira in Sonepur district will also have a capacity of 90 MW. while Sindhol-3 will have a capacity of 120 MW at Godhaneswar in Sonepur district. It may be noted, the state government of Orissa has identified 9 hydel projects of which 3 are now in pilot stages other projects are Lower Vansadhara Project, Balijori Hydro-Electric Project, Khadago Project, Middle Kolab Hydro-Electric Project, Tel Integrated Project, Salki Hydro-Electric Project, Uttei and Roul Integrated Project, Mahanadi-Brahmani river link and Baramul Hydro-Electric project.
