Uttaranchal Hydel Projects

GVK Power plans Mapang Bogudiyar HEP 200 MW (2 X 100 MW)

GVK Power is planning to set up Mapang Bogudiyar HEP 200 MW (2 X 100 MW) in Pithogarh district of Uttarnchal with an investment of Rs. 6671 million. The project involves constructing a The dam site is to be built in Mapang Village at the downstream of confluence of Lapsa Badli Gad with Goriganga River and it will be a run-off-the-river scheme. The project also involves constructing an underground power house on the left bank of the river near Bogudyar village with 2 units of 100 MW each. The project is yet to get clearances and likely to be completed in 5.5 years after statutory clearances.

GVK power plans Bogudiyar-Sirkari Bhyol HEP 170 MW

GVK power is planning to set up Bogudiyar-Sirkari Bhyol HEP 170 MW ( 2 x 85 MW) units in Pittogarh district of Uttarkhand state. The project involves setting up of a 98 m concrete gravity dam across river Goriganga tributary of river Kali (Sarda). The dam site to be located near Bogudiyar Village at the right bank of Goriganga River. This is a run-off-the-river scheme. The total land requirement for the project is 75 ha. An underground power house is to be located upstream of the confluence of Jaulchhida Gad on the right bank of the river with 2 units of 85 MW each. The total cost of the project is Rs.8592.7 million and is likely to be completed in 5.5 years.

Uttarkhand govt to revive Jamrani Dam Multipurpose Project

Uttarkhand govt to revive Jamrani Dam Multipurpose Project which was proposed way back in 1975. It proposes to construct a 130 m high gravity dam across Gola river, 10 km upstream from Kathgodam barrage in Nainital District near village Jamrani. The project also will have a hydel power generation unit of 30 MW and also serve water supply 145 MLD to twin cities in Haldwani-Kathgodam twin cities and Bhabar area. Further details are awaited.

Uttranchal focuses on mini hydel projects

Uttaranchal Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd(UJVNL) is setting up 4 mini hydel projects at a total capacity of 29 MW (one at Kaliganga (4 MW), 6 MW Kaliganga – II), 9 MW Kaligaud and 10 MW Madmaheswar. UJVNL has received assistance of a total of USD 300 million of which USD 45 million will be spent on these hydel projects. Kaliganga and Madmaheshwar hydel projects are constructed on Mandakini river in Ukhimath district in Rudraprayag district of the state. These projects are expected to be completed by 2 years. UJVNL currently produces 1305.9 MW, while the hydel potential of the state is estimated at 25000 MW
