Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam plans 120 MW hydro electric project

Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam is planning to set up the 120 MW Vyasi hydro electric project in the state. The project have been awarded the techno-economic clearance from CEA and tendering process is expected soon. The project is likely to be completed in 4-5 years. The investment is likely to be around Rs. 10,000 million.

Chamoli Hydropower to setup 5 MW Debal hydro electric project in village Debal in Narain Bagar in Chamoli district of Uttaranchal. The project involves setting up of a run-off-the-river scheme with 2 units of 2500 kw turbine with a diversion structure, water conducting system, feeder channel, desilting tank, power channel, fore-bay tank, penstock, power house, and tail race channel. Project Location : Chamoli, Uttaranchal
Project Capacity : 4.8 MW

Birahi Gnaga Hydro Power to set up hydro electric project in Chamoli in Uttaranchal. The project involves setting up of a run-off-the- river scheme across river Birahi Ganga harnessing the hydro potential with 2x2.4 MW turbine unit.The project will have a net head of 49.1m and a design discharge of 11.60 cumecs. A boulder type weir of nearly 52m will be constructed across the river, on which two 2400 kW capacity horizontal francis turbines will be sited that will generate approximately 25.8 GWh of electricity (net) per annum. Government to revive Bhagirathi hydel project

Expert Committee has cautioned the government on stoppage of work in an active seismic zone. Following it, government has initiated actions to take a fresh look at the 600 Mw Loharinag-Pala hydel project. Various Committee has recommended to clean the stretch to clean all hydel projects betweeb Gamukh and Haridwar in Uttarakhand. NTPC which has initiated work on the Rs.22000 million project had suspended the work last year on wake of protests.
