Indo Arya Central Transport plans 36 MW Chanju hydel project at Himachal Pradesh

Indo Arya Central Transport Co, a logistics provider is setting up a 36 MW hydel project at Chanju nalla, a tributary of river Ravi, in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. The project involves installation of 3 verical axis Francis turbine of 12 MW each utilizing a design head of 236 meters. The generated power will be evacuated to NEWNE grid at a sub-station at Kurthala. The project involves construction of 54 meter wide gated weir, a 5376.5 meter pressure flow head race tunnel, 2.3 dia penstock and a 132 KV DC line from Kurthala to Baithri for evacuation of power. This hydel project is expected to be commissioned by September 2012

Brakel Corp NV to set up 960-MW Thopan-Powari-Jangi hydropower in HP

Brake Corp NV, a Dutch company has signed a pre-implementation agreement with HP govt to set up the 960 MW 960-MW Thopan-Powari-Jangi hydropower project in Kinnaur district . The company has started pre construction activities and tophograhical surveys. The hydel project will require investment of Rs.60 billion.

Himachal government cancels 7 hydel projects

Himachal government has cancelled allotments of 7 mini-hydel projects for violating terms and conditions by the Independent Power Producers (IPPs). The cancelled projects are 5 MW Koot in Shimla district, 3 MW Chennari and 4.5 MW Bakhali projects, 2 MW in Mandi district, 2.5 MW in Moujhi in Kangra district, 3 MW in Machad-II. Many of the IPP’s will forfeit their bank gurantees and EMD’s. It may be seen as failure of the state government to award these projects to local entrepreneurs who failed to complete the projects. Now, the govt. is considering to issue fresh ads to invite proposals to revive these projects. Out of 191 projects, only 10% have been completed.
